In July 2017, ACWA hosted the 1st Annual Chilkat Challenge Triathlon (CCT) to raise local, regional, and national awareness of the importance of protecting the Chilkat River.  The Chilkat's wild salmon runs sustain the world's largest congregation of bald eagles, which in 1982 stimulated the creation of the Alaska Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve.  The CCT is an incredible 40 mile paddle, cycle and run in and along the Chilkat River in S.E. Alaska.  The 2nd Annual CCT will be held on July 1st, 2018.  For more information about the CCT, to see a great video of the 2017 race, and to sign up to compete or sponsor the 2018 CCT, please go to  We'd love to see you in Haines next summer!
